A lot of suggestions for how to become more creative, including some unusual ones.

In The Art of Creative Thinking Rod Judkins lists 89 ways to see things differently. Judkins is an artist and lecturer and in this short work demonstrates how art can help you see the world in various ways. His points have been made by others, but not in this unique way. Each point consists of a short passage and includes one or more people who illustrate the point. Some of his points are positive and more like common sense. These include: Be positive about negatives; don’t let the views of others distract you; be inspired by nature; stay hungry and accept rejection. On the other hand, some points are of a contrary nature. These include: pause for thoughtlessness; plan to have more accidents; feel inadequate; to achieve something, do nothing; be as annoying as possible; look forward to disappointment; and aspire to having no goals (because goals hamper creativity). As a teacher I can relate to his final suggestion: to learn, teach.
There are a lot of good suggestions in this rather short book, but after a while reading them becomes a bit tedious. One approach might be to focus on one or two of the ideas that have a particular meaning for you and see what results you get.
