Intriguing Encounters With The Unknown

For the past 6 years Lon Stricker has been putting out a free daily newsletter called Phantoms and Monsters, full of strange encounters that happen to ordinary people. UFOs, monsters and all kind of other weirdness. It hits my email inbox at 3am every day. Besides stories that Lon has found, both old and new, there are stories readers send in to him. There is something about Lon that makes people trust him and send him their story and this is a collection of some of the best cryptid (unknown animal) encounters he's received over the years. While low on investigation, this ebook is full of first hand, and occasionally second hand, accounts of encounters with unknown beasts. The stories do a good job of conveying a common thread of incredibility of the witness, they can't believe what they have seen, and believability. Many just want to get their story off their chest and go to Lon to ask if anyone else has seen the same thing.
Lon does a great job with his daily blog and those that are interested in such things should check this book out, you can read it on your computer if you don't have a Kindle. For those who have never heard of Lon't blog, try this book and I'd bet you'll be signing up for it before you finish reading it.

Interesting Accounts of the Unexplained

First, the requisite disclaimers: I received a free Kindle copy of the book from the author, Lon Strickler. This was a gift freely offered to all readers of his blog "Phantoms and Monsters", and no conditions were stated or implied. I'm writing this review in conformity to Mr. Strickler's subsequent request that those who accepted and read the book consider reviewing it here. Again, no inducements or conditions of any sort were attached to the request.
The book consists of a collection of accounts of Fortean incidents that people have related to the author over the years, along with one or two of his own adventures. As with any collection of reader submissions, the quality is uneven. That being noted, the quality here is generally pretty high. The book has obviously been carefully proofread, and there are none of the glaring typographical or layout mistakes which often bedevil personal publications. The editor has chosen (correctly, IMHO) to use a light touch, and the voices of the protagonists come through in their own words and grammar.
Mr. Strickler makes no attempt to "explain away" the stories, nor does he fall prey to the IMHO equally pernicious temptation to try to interpret events in the light of his own beliefs. These are straightforward stories, each of which stands on its own, although in a few cases collaborative information is offered, again without interpretation.
The one real downside to the book is that if you're a longtime reader of his blog, you'll have read most, if not all, of these accounts already. That being said, it's still nice to have the best of the blog, skimmed and collected into one volume, and at three dollars for a two hundred page book, you'd have to be exacting indeed not to be pleased.

Paranormal stories I couldn't stop reading..Great job putting this book together, Lon!

I've almost finished reading the entire book but I just had to come on here and gush how creepy and exciting a lot of these stories Lon has collected and put into his newest book. I'm a huge supporter of Lon's Phantoms & Monsters blog, I can't finish my evening without reading what interesting articles Lon brings to us readers, you must check it out for yourself, I insist. :) As a fan and lover of the paranormal, I highly recommend this collection of bizarre and a lot of times insanely mesmerizing encounters!
